Air Force Fitness Test Scores – Ages 30-34 – Male & Female

The Air Force revised PT Test rules have been released. Airmen now have the option of taking the default test, featuring a 1.5-mile run, pushups, and situps, or they can substitute alternative exercises in each of these three categories. The cardio portion of the test is still worth 60 points, while the strength and endurance portions of the test are now worth 20 points each, instead of the previous 10 points.

The Air Force also removed the waist measurement as a scored item and now features 5-year age groups instead of the previous 10-year age groups.

Air Force Physical Assessment Test Options (choose one from each category):

  • Cardio Test: 1.5-mile run or 20-meter HAMR (high aerobic multi-shuttle run)
  • Strength Test: Push-ups or hand-release push-ups
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: Sit-ups, cross-legged reverse crunches, or forearm planks

Airman must complete one test in each of the three categories, but they have the option of choosing which test they wish to take.

There are no procedural changes to the AF PT Test for the 1.5-mile run, pushups, or situps. However, there are new test options in each of these categories.

The HAMR is a timed shuttle run to the pace of a prerecorded beep. Airmen run as many shuttles as possible until they fail to complete three consecutive beeps. Airmen have two minutes to complete as many HR Pushups as possible, two minutes to perform as many cross-legged reverse crunches as they can, or they can choose to hold the forearm plank for as long as they can, maxing out their points at around 3:30 (depending on gender and age group).

Air Force PT Test Passing Requirements

Each section of the Air Force PT Test is worth the following number of points:

  • Cardio Test: 60 points
  • Strength Test: 20 points
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: 20 points

Airmen must score at least 75 points in order to pass the PT test. They must also score the minimum required number of points in each of the three categories.

The Air Force has three scoring ranges:

  • Excellent: 90 or more total points
  • Satisfactory: 75-89.9 total points
  • Unsatisfactory: less than 75 total points.

Scoring Unsatisfactory on the test is equivalent to failing the test and may result in administrative action. Repeated failures may result in separation from the Air Force. You can see the full guidelines in DAFMAN 36-2905.
