Air Force Fitness Test Scores – Ages 40-44 – Male & Female

The US Air Force overhauled their fitness assessment program, removing the waist measurement and offering Airmen several new test options. In addition to getting rid of the waist measurement, the Air Force changed the test groups from 10-year age groups to five-year age groups.

The Air Force PT test still features the 1.5-mile run, pushups, and situps, but Airmen now have the option of substituting a different activity for each of these events. These are the events currently available in the Air Force fitness assessment (Airmen must choose one event from each category):

  • Cardio Test: 1.5-mile run or 20-meter HAMR (high aerobic multi-shuttle run)
  • Strength Test: Push-ups or hand-release push-ups
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: Sit-ups, cross-legged reverse crunches, or forearm planks

The cardio portion of the PT test still counts for 60 points on the final score. With the removal of the waist measurement, the strength test and the endurance test are now worth 20 points each.

The run, pushups, and situps are executed in the same manner as the previous test. However, the standards are different than the previous score requirements.

The HAMR is a timed 20-meter shuttle run. Airmen run shuttles to the pace of a prerecorded beep. The test ends when the participant fails to complete three consecutive shuttles in the allotted time. Participants have two minutes to perform both the HR pushups and the cross-legged reverse crunches. The forearm plank is scored by the duration of the hold.

Air Force PT Test Passing Requirements

Each portion of the fitness assessment can earn up the following number of points:

  • Cardio Test: 60 points
  • Strength Test: 20 points
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: 20 points

Participants need to score a minimum of 75 points to pass the PT assessment, while also scoring the minimum number of points for each of the three events they choose.

The PT Test will be awarded a score in the following ranges:

  • Excellent: 90 or more total points
  • Satisfactory: 75-89.9 total points
  • Unsatisfactory: less than 75 total points.

An Unsatisfactory score is a failure and may result in administrative action. Failing multiple PT tests may result in being separated from the Air Force. The full guidelines are found in DAFMAN 36-2905.
