Air Force Fitness Test Scores – Ages 45-49 – Male & Female

The new Air Force PT test got rid of the waist measurement and changed the age groups from 10-year groups to 5-year groups. In addition, Airmen may now choose to take an alternative activity in lieu of the standard 1.5-mile run, timed pushups, or timed situps. The cardio portion of the test continues to be worth 60 points while the strength and endurance portions (pushups and situps) are now worth 20 points each.

Airmen must choose one physical activity from each of the following categories on the Air Force physical fitness assessment:

  • Cardio Test: 1.5-mile run or 20-meter HAMR (high aerobic multi-shuttle run)
  • Strength Test: Push-ups or hand-release push-ups
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: Sit-ups, cross-legged reverse crunches, or forearm planks

There are no changes to how the 1.5-mile run, pushups, or situps are performed, however, there are new scoring standards which you can find below.

The new test options may require a little explaining. The HAMR is a time 20-meter shuttle run. Airmen run from cone to cone to the pace of a prerecorded beep. The test ends when the participant fails to complete three consecutive shuttles before the beep. Airmen have two minutes for both the Hand Release pushups and the cross-legged reverse crunches. The forearm planks are scored based on the duration of the hold.

Air Force PT Test Passing Requirements

Airmen must score a minimum of 75 points to pass the fitness assessment, with each section of the test worth the following number of points:

  • Cardio Test: 60 points
  • Strength Test: 20 points
  • Core Strength / Endurance Test: 20 points

In addition, Airmen must also score the minimum scoring requirement on each section of the test.

The scores for each portion of the test are added together and the member will receive a grade in the following scoring ranges:

  • Excellent: 90 or more total points
  • Satisfactory: 75-89.9 total points
  • Unsatisfactory: less than 75 total points.

An Unsatisfactory score is a failure and may result in administrative action. Multiple failures could result in being separated from the Air Force for failure to meet standards. DAFMAN 36-2905 contains the official regulations.
